Qatar Is Slashing Sheep Prices Ahead Of Eid Al Adha 2023 Celebrations

Avatar

For the approaching Eid Al Adha celebrations, the government has started a new campaign to lower the cost of sheep and other livestock.

The MoCI said that sheep would be valued at QAR 1,000 if they weigh 40 kg or more

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), the Ministry of Municipality, and Widam Food Company are working together to lower sheep costs.

The cost-cutting plan, which will last until July 1st, aims to stabilise markets during Eid Al Adha, provide inexpensive items, balance supply and demand, and stop irrational price increases for meat during peak demand periods.

Underweight sheep and those who don’t follow the guidelines won’t be sold.

The company’s designated slaughterhouses in Al Shamal, Al Khor, Umm Salal, Al Wakra, and Al Sheehaniya, however, will be where they are marketed.

Under this programme, any citizen of Qatar who is at least 20 years old and possesses a current ID card may buy a sheep. Each eligible buyer is only permitted to buy one sheep in order to ensure a fair distribution.
