The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has issued a strong warning to individuals who possess dangerous animals, urging them to avoid bringing these animals into public spaces. The ministry’s warning, shared via an official social media post, emphasizes the importance of protecting both the public and the environment from potential threats posed by these animals.
This move is part of the enforcement of Law No. (10) of 2019, which regulates the possession of dangerous animals and organisms in Qatar. The law explicitly bans the display, sale, and trade of such animals, ensuring that public safety is prioritized. According to the MoECC, these regulations apply to a wide range of organisms, including 28 specific breeds of dogs classified as dangerous, along with other potentially harmful species.
The ministry has called on the public to familiarize themselves with the law, particularly those who own or trade animals, to ensure full compliance. Violating these regulations could result in legal consequences, with the MoECC reinforcing that the law is in place to protect not only individuals but also the country’s natural environment.
