Qatar Just Made Two More (Much Larger) Bids For Manchester United

Avatar

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani made a £4 billion bid for England’s Manchester United football club back in March. Since then, it’s been quite the talk of the town as the Glazers, the family currently owning the club, are mulling over handing the team to Qatari company.

In the last few days, it was revealed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of the richest men in Britain, offered the Glazers a deal that would allow Joel and Avram Glazer to keep their stakes in Man U.

Sheikh Jassim’s bid, unlike Ratcliffe’s, is exclusively for a total takeover and would be entirely debt free.

In response, Sheikh Jassim just made two more bids…

He’s clearly very keen on total ownership of the club.

The new offer made by Sheikh Jassim is much more than his previous offer, but still falls short of the Glazers’ valuation of their club.

That’s why one final bid was made a few hours later, but this time through the Qatar Islamic Bank

Fun fact: Sheikh Jassim is a chair at the Qatar Islamic Bank, so the bid being made through QIB is no surprise.

The billionaire is clearly intent on purchasing 100 percent of the club, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to pay more than what he believes United are worth-which is about £1 billion below the Glazer family’s asking price.

Will he win? We’ll have to wait and see if these new bids can make Sheikh Jassim the new owner of Man U.
