Qatar Launches Donation Campaign To Honor Murdered Gaza Journalists Hamza Al Dahdouh & Mustafa Thuraya

Hamza Dahdouh and Mustafa Thuraya, were doing their job – reporting on the situation in Gaza – when they were hit in an airstrike.

Qatar just launched online fundraisers to remember two Palestinian journalists killed by Israeli forces last week.

Israel killed Dahdouh — the eldest son of Al Jazeera’s bureau chief, Wael Dahdouh — along with Palestinian journalist Mustafa Thuraya in a direct missile strike in western Khan Younis in Gaza on Sunday.

Qatar Charity, a big aid group in the country, started the campaigns to honor their work. They’re calling them “Martyrs of Justice and Truth.” One campaign aims to raise money for Dahdouh’s family, while the other will build a health center in Nepal in Thurayya’s name, helping around 15,000 people.

Both campaigns are still far from their goals, but they’ve already raised some cash. You can donate online if you want to pitch in and show support for these journalists and their families.

Lolwah Al Khater, Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, shared the campaign on her X page. “This is an initiative that we ask everyone to contribute to for the martyrs of justice and truth, Hamza Dahdouh and Mustafa Thurayya, out of righteousness and loyalty to Palestine’s martyrs and their patient families,” Al Khater said.

According to QC’s website, the campaign in Dahdouh’s honour intends to construct a health clinic in Kosovo for those “that suffer from poor health coverage,” possibly helping 5,000 individuals.

Of the QAR 941,600 target, the campaign has raised QAR 10,510 QAR thus far.

The goal of Thurayya’s second campaign is to construct a medical facility in Nepal that will be able to serve at least 15,000 patients. According to the donations website, QAR 6,140 of the QAR 941,600 goal has been raised by the campaign thus far.

By visiting their pages, people in Qatar and beyond can make online donations to both causes.
