The Ministry of Municipality took to their official Twitter page to announce their roundup of all the new public parks that have opened over the last year, and it’s a picnic-lover’s dream come true.

Qatar has opened 12 new parks, increasing the total number of parks in the nation to 114

The new parks have a combined area of 3 million square metres for public parks and 12.9 million square metres for green space. Sports equipment was also built in 15 parks.

In 2022, Qatar saw the participation of numerous organisations, entities, and figures to implement the One Million Tree programme.

2,160 students, 62 embassies, and a few World Cup supporters took part in the campaign. In honour of Qatar’s National Day and the FIFA World Cup 2022 finals, H.E. Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani planted the millionth tree.

202,000 seedlings and 104,000 shrubberies were dispersed, with Qatar producing 881,000 tree seedlings and 126,000 shrubberies.

Additionally, Qatar took part in Floriade Expo 2022, where the Qatar Pavillion received three international prizes.

In Umm Al Seneem Park, Qatar also opened the world’s longest air-conditioned track

With all this new green space in the country, who’s down for a walk in the park?
