Qatar Sets November 5 For Constitutional Amendments Vote With Early Dismissal Approved For Employees

Qatari citizens are set to participate in a historic referendum on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, voting on constitutional amendments that could shape the future of the nation. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued Decree No. 87 of 2024, inviting all Qatari citizens aged 18 and above to exercise their right to vote.

In preparation for the referendum, the Council of Ministers Secretariat General announced that Qatari employees may be permitted early dismissal from work on referendum day, ensuring that work operations are not hindered. The early dismissal aims to facilitate citizens’ participation, giving them the opportunity to make their voices heard.

The General Referendum Committee emphasized the importance of each citizen’s participation, urging all eligible voters within Qatar and abroad to cast their vote in support of a successful referendum process. Voting hours will run from 7 am to 7 pm, with two voting options available for convenience: in-person paper or electronic voting, and remote voting via the Metrash2 app.

Polling stations across Qatar will offer both paper and electronic voting. Here are the designated locations for in-person voting:

  • Committee One: Ali Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah Arena, Al Sadd Sports Club
  • Committee Two: Multi-purpose Hall, Al Duhail Sports Club
  • Committee Three: Aspire Sports Hall, Aspire
  • Committee Four: Multi-purpose Hall, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium (Al Rayyan)
  • Committee Five: Multi-purpose Hall, Barzan Youth Center
  • Committee Six: Multi-purpose Hall, Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium (Al Ahli Club)
  • Committee Seven: VIP Entrance, Al Janoub Stadium
  • Committee Eight: Multi-purpose Hall, Al Khor Sports Club
  • Committee Nine: Multi-purpose Hall, Al Shamal Sports Club
  • Committee Ten: Multi-purpose Hall, Thani Bin Jassim Stadium (Al Gharafa Club)

  • Committee Two: Abu Samra Border Center, Abu Samra Crossing
  • Committee Three: Villaggio Mall

For those unable to vote in person, the Metrash2 app provides a convenient remote voting option, allowing citizens to participate from wherever they are, as long as they have access to the app.

The referendum will feature a simple yes-no voting system, and results are expected to be announced within 24 hours of the referendum’s close. This significant event marks an opportunity for Qatari citizens to take an active role in the governance and constitutional future of their country.
