The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) said that for the month of June 2023, an astounding QAR 26,473,593 in aid was given to economically disadvantaged households in Qatar.

The assistance provided benefited 4,100 impoverished families all around the country

Thanks to the public’s kind donations, the amount of desperately needed aid increased by 57% and reached the 4,100 families registered with the Zakat Affairs Department.

The Qatari government set up an online portal for submitting requests for assistance.

This enables the recipients to request assistance and learn what paperwork and documentation are needed. They can also use it to track the progress of a submitted application and find out the committee’s ruling.

The Zakat Affairs Department provided QAR 16,865,134 in relief to 1,000 families in May, which is an increase from the previous month. This aid was split into monthly payments of QAR7,762,059 and one-time contributions of QAR9,103,075.

The Zakat Affairs Department is in charge of collecting and disbursing zakat in accordance with Shariah regulations as a governmental entity recognised by Qatari law.

Aid is delivered to people in need, including citizens and residents, after rigorous examination by specialists.
