The Biggest Technology Summit In The World Has Chosen Qatar As Its Next Host

The Web Summit in Lisbon is the biggest technology conference in the world.

Based in Portugal, the summit just announced Doha as its next host

“A new summit in the Middle East forms part of a broader plan for the Web Summit,” said Paddy Cosgrave, CEO of the summit, in a statement.

“The ambition is to make the Web Summit even more global,” he said. Cosgrave also wants to take the conference to the African continent in 2025 or 2026 and is in talks to host the event in China.

Last year, the event in Lisbon received over 70,000 visitors.

The Rio de Janeiro summit, whose inaugural edition is planned for this year, will be followed by the summit in Doha, which is slated for March 4th to 7th, 2024.

Cosgrave has long wished for the technology event to expand into the MENA region.

The management disclosed that the markets in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East were the next targets following Brazil during the most recent World Series in Lisbon.
