The Former Minister Of Finance Has Been Referred To Criminal Court For Embezzlement

The former Minister of Finance, Ali Sharif Al Emadi and others have been referred to the Criminal Court.

The Public Prosecution issued a statement following the arrest of Ali Al Emadi on May 6, 2021, in which an investigation was conducted and completed. The public office met the interrogations, hearing witnesses and examined the technical reports, QNA reported on March 19.

Ali Sharif Al Emadi is accused of embezzlement of public funds, bribery, money laundering and exploitation of office, among other crimes

On May 25, 2021, Qatar National Bank stated that the former Qatar Finance Minister has been removed from the bank’s board of directors after his arrest earlier that month over embezzlement allegations. Qatar froze the assets of 6 local businessmen as part of a crackdown against high-ranking figures that began last week with the publicly announced arrest of the Gulf nation’s finance minister, Bloomberg reported.
