This Upcoming Art Museum In Doha Is Being Built On An Old Industrial Flour Mill

Avatar

The Art Mill Museum, created by Qatar Museums in Doha, is Qatar’s next museum displaying modern and contemporary art from throughout the world.

The Art Mill Museum, which is scheduled to open in 2030, will be built on the site of an old industrial flour mill on Doha Corniche

The building will create a triangle with the National Museum of Qatar and the Museum of Islamic Art.

The Art Mill Museum will hold outstanding collections that were created 40 years ago with works in many different disciplines that date from 1850 to the present.

Together with architecture, it will display works of painting, sculpture, films and film props, fashion, crafts, and photography.

It will represent modern and contemporary art from all over the world equally as a pioneering institution in the non-Western world, engrossing both domestic and foreign audiences with a variety of art historical narratives.

The Chilean studio ELEMENTAL, directed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Alejandro Aravena, won this architectural proposal back in 2016 during an international architecture competition.

The team at VOGT Landscape Architects, directed by Günther Vogt, will create a public garden and a creative village will also be present on the site.
