The university had already moved to remote learning earlier in the month.

Similarly, Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar announced that it has shifted fully to remote operations, with its premises closed to the public. The institution said updates regarding scheduled activities would be communicated directly to those affected.

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar indicated that classes resumed online on March 29, with plans to reopen its campus once safety procedures related to security alerts are finalized.

At Georgetown University in Qatar, initial plans for a hybrid learning model were reversed due to overnight developments. The university announced a return to fully remote instruction, citing an abundance of caution, and confirmed that its campus building would remain closed.

Texas A&M University at Qatar stated that all teaching and campus operations will continue online through at least the end of the spring semester. The university also advised its community to follow guidance issued by the U.S. Embassy in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Arkansas State University Qatar and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar had not issued official updates regarding operational changes as of Sunday.

The precautionary measures come amid heightened security concerns following a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which described U.S. and Israeli universities in the region as “legitimate targets.”

The statement warned students, faculty, and nearby residents to maintain distance from such institutions

The IRGC linked its warning to recent attacks on Iranian academic institutions, including the Iran University of Science and Technology and the Isfahan University of Technology, claiming these had been targeted by U.S. and Israeli actions.

Qatar hosts several U.S. branch campuses, primarily within Education City, making it a key regional hub for international higher education. However, the current situation has raised concerns over the safety of academic communities and the continuity of on-campus activities.
