5 Places to Visit After Lockdown

Avatar

While the lockdown is slowly lifting, masks and social distancing have become part of our new reality in many aspects of our life; from commuting to shopping, eating in a restaurant, enjoying a walk in the park or a rejuvenating dip in the ocean.

As parks, beaches and public places re-open, we are all looking for ways to spend as much time as possible outdoors. We have prepared a list of places to visit after the coronavirus lockdown is lifted.

What do all these places have in common? They offer a quick getaway, plus, they are not overcrowded (yet).

Have a look:

1. Inland Sea

A UNESCO recognized natural reserve; can you think of a better destination to enjoy the majestic beauty of nature rather than in one of Qatar’s breathtaking natural wonders? Inland Sea AKA Khor Al Adaid, is the unique place where the sea meets the sand dunes – you can enjoy a day in nature, enjoy swimming or even go camping.

2. Fuwairit Beach

For a quick trip to the beach, Fuwairit is an hour drive from Doha. Think of turquoise waters, golden sand, mesmerizing views and tranquil atmosphere. Fuwairit is perfect for a picnic by the sea – note that there are no restaurant facilities nearby.

3. Al Thakira Mangroves

North of the city of Al Khor, Al Thakira mangroves offer an ideal escape from the city. To admire the contrast between the ecosystem’s rich vegetation and the desert landscape, you can book a tour by kayak – perfect for practicing social distancing and enjoying a day outdoors – even if the temperature is rising.

4. Al Wakrah Beach

For a beach trip near Doha, Al Wakrah is just 10km away from the city. A wide, sandy beach, perfect for families since it features three playgrounds, a soccer and a volleyball pitch as well as BBQ facilities. We recommend that you check which facilities are open before your visit, but Al Wakrah is a very nice option even for a beach walk.

5. Parks
