UAE’s Football Association Has Lodged A Complaint Over The Eligibility Of Certain Qatari Players

The UAE Football Association (UAE FA) has lodged a formal protest with the Asian Football Federation (AFC) over the eligibility of two Qatari players.

The UAE FA claims that two players who are part of the team do not qualify to play for Qatar

According to UAE FA, Almoez Ali, a Sudan-born 22-year-old striker, and Bassam Al Rawi Baghdad, Iraq, born 21-year-old and they both do not qualify to play for Qatar on residency grounds because they have not lived continuously in the Gulf state for the legal legibility of five years.

Both players have refuted the claims

AFC has confirmed receiving the protest from the UAE FA, which will now be reviewed in line with the AFC Regulations.

Qatar beat the UAE 4-0 on Tuesday to book their place in Friday’s final against Japan.
