HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani called the Israeli strike “blatant, treacherous and cowardly.” The attack had targeted a residential building housing members of Hamas’s political office, killing five officials and a young Qatari officer, and injuring 18 others. Leaders at the summit didn’t just voice outrage, they stood firmly behind Qatar’s role as a mediator in Gaza, with a clear message that an attack on Qatar is an attack on all.

A call for accountability

The summit also wasn’t just about words. Arab and Islamic leaders called for stronger international accountability and urged the United Nations to review Israel’s compatibility with its obligations under the UN Charter. Meanwhile, Gulf Cooperation Council nations pledged to activate joint defense mechanisms, showing a united front across the region. Even international figures like US Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to visit Qatar soon, highlighting the global attention Doha is drawing as a hub for diplomacy and conflict resolution.
