Aya Mohamed Made History With First Qatari Women’s Singles Gold at Arab Table Tennis

Aya Mohamed made history in Casablanca, shattering records as the first Qatari woman to ever claim the singles title at the Arab Table Tennis Championship. Her electrifying victory not only secured Qatar its 20th medal of the tournament but also set an unforgettable milestone for women’s sports in the country.

A Thrilling Final

Aya faced Jordan’s Tima Abu Yemen in a thrilling five-set final at the Mohammed V Indoor Complex. With nerves of steel and fierce determination, she triumphed 3-2. The crowd erupted as Aya’s victory was sealed in a match that will be remembered for its intensity and passion.

Medals keep coming for Qatar

But Aya’s success didn’t stop there. She teamed up with Maryam Ali to win silver in doubles. Together with Ali and Serena Sheikh, she earned another silver in the team event. Aya’s impressive medal haul has inspired the next generation of athletes in Qatar, showing that teamwork and persistence lead to success.

A Trailblazer for Women’s Sports

Already a pioneer, Aya competed at the London 2012 Olympics. Earlier this year, she also broke into the ITTF world’s top 100 in mixed doubles with Mohamed Abdulwahab. Delegation head Khalid Ali Al Kuwari praised her as a “champion of gold.” Her success is the result of years of dedication. Special thanks go to Federation President Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi for his steadfast support.
