In a heartwarming gesture, Canada has pledged $500,000 to provide essential mental health support for Palestinian evacuees in Doha. This vital initiative is set to offer community-based psychosocial services to those displaced by conflict, ensuring they receive the care and compassion they deserve.
The Qatar Red Crescent Society and Canadian Red Cross have partnered for a six-month program, backed by Qatar and Canada’s foreign ministries. This program focuses on the well-being of evacuees at the Al-Thumama Complex, where they’re already receiving care.
This contribution supports Qatar’s humanitarian goals and strengthens the bond between the two nations. It’s part of a larger agreement signed during Qatar’s Amir’s visit to Ottawa last September. This partnership reflects their shared commitment to addressing global challenges.
Isabelle Martin, Canada’s Ambassador to Qatar, expressed her country’s full support for Qatar’s efforts. She highlighted their shared commitment to humanitarian values. Faisal Al-Emadi, Secretary-General of QRCS, emphasized how crucial this aid is, offering peace, security, and a better future for the evacuees.
