Claim Your Car Before It’s Gone: Cars Left Over 3 Months Will Be Auctioned

If your vehicle has been sitting in impound for a while, this is your heads-up to act now. The General Directorate of Traffic in Qatar just announced that any vehicle impounded for over three months could be sold at a public auction if not claimed in time. That means you’ve got a 30-day window to take action or risk losing your car for good.

What you need to do

According to the Ministry of Interior, vehicle owners must head over to the Vehicle Impoundment Section in the Industrial Area – Street 52. You’ll need to settle any traffic fines and storage fees, complete the necessary paperwork, and collect your vehicle before August 14, 2025.

The process is straightforward — but the deadline is strict. If you don’t act within the 30-day period starting July 15, the vehicle will be legally eligible for public auction.

What happens if you miss the deadline

If the vehicle isn’t claimed in time, the General Directorate of Traffic will proceed with selling it via public auction, following official procedures. So whether it’s a car, truck or bike, if it’s been sitting in impound for over three months, now’s the time to sort things out.

Don’t wait until it’s too late! Your ride might just end up in someone else’s garage.
