The confusion started after social media chatter suggested Qatar was considering switching to a Saturday–Sunday weekend system, effectively turning Friday into a workday. But officials have now made it clear: Fridays remain off, as usual. So, your brunch plans, prayers, and family time are totally safe.

In an interview with Qatar TV, H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, and as per the recent announcement by H.E Buthaina Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, it’s confirmed that there’s “no truth” to the Friday workday rumors and emphasized that the current workweek structure remains unchanged and that the Bureau is simply studying ways to enhance work efficiency — not extend it.
As such, the new human resources law focuses on achieving a work-life balance that puts family and wellbeing first.
