Public Health Salmonella Alert: Ministry Says Avoid Consuming Quaker Oat Products

Avatar

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has issued a public warning against consuming Quaker oat products with expiration dates 9 January 2024, 12 March 2024, 3 June 2024, 2 August 2024, 1 September 2024, or 1 October 2024.

This warning stems from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) statement regarding Quaker Oats recalling these products from the market due to salmonella contamination.

Salmonella is a pathogenic bacteria that causes foodborne illness, characterized by abdominal pain, diarrhea, and nausea. To ensure public health and prevent the spread of this bacteria, the MoPH, in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI), has issued a circular to all suppliers and consumer associations to immediately stop marketing and withdraw these products from the market.

Inspectors have also been deployed to verify that shops are free of these potentially contaminated oat products. If you have purchased any of the affected oat products, please refrain from consuming them and return them to the store where you purchased them.

For more information, please contact the MoPH’s Consumer Protection Department at 8001111 or visit the Ministry’s website: https://www.moph.gov.qa
