In a statement released yesterday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Qatar vehemently opposed the resumption of Israeli occupation shelling on Al-Fakhoora School in Jabaliya Camp in Northern Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of scores of people, the majority of them women and children.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar reiterates its demand for an immediate inquiry, along with the sending of impartial UN investigators to look into the details of the Israeli occupation army’s continuous targeting of hospitals and schools.
In addition, it urges the international community to move quickly to hold Israel responsible for its actions, prevent it from harming civilians in the future, and give the displaced people taking refuge at the school—which is administered by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA)—the protection they need.
The Ministry issues a warning that tensions will rise, the circle of violence will widen, and instability and further escalation will result from the international community’s silence over the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs restates Qatar’s unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian struggle, the rightful claims of the comradely Palestinian people, and the creation of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 lines.
