Guess what? Qatar’s Permanent Mission in Geneva just hosted an event, and it was all about something super important: how education can totally change the game for women and girls around the world. They really brought the spotlight on how learning isn’t just about books—it’s about unlocking opportunities and making a real impact in society.
Education is a total game-changer, especially for women and girls. It’s not just about getting a degree—it’s about gaining the knowledge, skills, and confidence to get involved and make a difference. It helps improve health, living conditions, and even boosts the economy. So, education really is the key to opening doors!
The event also highlighted a serious issue: the global gap in education between boys and girls. Here’s a shocker—only 66% of countries have reached gender equality in primary education. And it gets worse: just 45% in lower secondary, and only 25% in upper secondary. There’s still a lot to be done to close that gap.
One thing that stood out? The amazing work of the Education Above All Foundation. Their ‘Educate A Child’ program is doing some incredible work in 50 countries with 82 partners. Thanks to them, over 19 million out-of-school kids are back in class, getting the education they deserve!
Over 70 officials from diplomatic missions, international organizations, and civil society groups came together for some thought-provoking discussions. Everyone agreed: education is not just a basic right, it’s a real catalyst for change. It empowers people to participate fully in society and stand up for their rights. The event sparked some meaningful conversations, and it’s clear that the movement is growing stronger every day.
