Mark your calendars, Qatari workers in the private sector!
Subject to the Labour Law, this holiday is a paid working day. This means that workers will be compensated for their absence from work on Qatar National Day without forfeiting their daily wage.
The MoL also clarified that if work conditions necessitate the employment of workers during the National Day holiday, then the provisions of Article (74) of the Labour Law, which govern overtime hours and their allowances, shall apply. This means that workers who are required to work during the holiday will be compensated for their overtime at the appropriate rate.
This announcement is a welcome step towards ensuring that workers in the private sector enjoy their National Day holiday to the fullest. It is also a testament to the MoL’s commitment to upholding the rights of workers and ensuring fair labor practices in Qatar.
The Ministry of Labour announced that National Day leave for workers in private sector establishments subject to the Labour Law is one paid working day.
