Qatar Red Crescent Society Delivered Life-Saving Aid To 8.7 Million People In 2023

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to humanitarian aid, delivering life-saving assistance to a staggering 8.7 million beneficiaries both locally and internationally in 2023.

QRCS’s efforts, totaling QR 483 million (around $132.665 million), encompassed a wide range of relief and development projects, catering to the needs of vulnerable communities in various parts of the globe.

The organization’s local programs, with a total cost of QR 12,776,643, benefited 1,062,917 people across Qatar. These programs addressed a diverse range of issues, including food security, healthcare, education, and community development.

QRCS’s international endeavors were equally impressive, with humanitarian projects worth QR 154,175,653 (around $42.35 million) supporting 5,973,734 individuals in 27 countries.

Somalia, Palestine, Lebanon, Venezuela, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Kenya, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and South Africa were among the beneficiary nations.

QRCS’s Disaster Information Management Center (DIMC) played a crucial role in responding to emergencies, being activated 14 times throughout the year. These included responding to the Syria-Turkey earthquake, the war in Sudan, Storm Daniel in Libya, the Morocco earthquake, and the war in Gaza.

QRCS’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian action reflects Qatar’s dedication to upholding its international humanitarian obligations. The organization’s efforts have a profound impact on the lives of millions of people in need, demonstrating the power of compassion and the importance of global solidarity in addressing the challenges of our time.
