The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) just made some exciting updates to the school calendar for the 2025-2026 to 2027-2028 academic years. Public and private school holidays are now aligned, making life easier for students, parents, and teachers. Let’s take a closer look at these changes and how they’ll make school life smoother for everyone.

The new school calendar aligns public and private school holidays, allowing families to plan more effectively. No more juggling different schedules for each school, meaning families can finally enjoy more time together without worrying about overlapping holidays. This alignment is a huge relief for parents and makes family vacations or simple quality time much easier to organize. Plus, the calendar includes extra days off during Ramadan (for the 2025-2026 and 2027-2028 school years), so students and staff can enjoy a longer break during this special time.
High school students will benefit from the new “Test Day – Rest Day” system. This system introduces a full day of rest between each second-semester exam. Instead of cramming for one exam after another with no time to recharge, students now have a break to review, relax, and mentally prepare for the next one. This change is aimed at reducing stress, improving focus, and helping students perform better during their exams. With this system in place, students can approach their exams with a fresh mind and more confidence.

First semester exams are now scheduled before National Day, so students won’t have to worry about exams while trying to enjoy the celebrations. This change allows students to fully participate in national events and festivities without the added stress of studying for exams. They can embrace the celebrations, strengthen their sense of identity, and connect with their country, all while enjoying a stress-free break.
These changes go beyond just the school schedule. They are designed to create a better balance between school, family time, and well-being. With more breaks, a smarter exam schedule, and aligned holidays, students and families will experience less stress and more opportunities to relax and enjoy life. The new calendar not only supports students’ mental and emotional health but also makes life easier for parents, helping them plan vacations and family activities without conflicts.
The new school calendar is a big win for everyone involved, offering a more flexible, organized, and family-friendly approach to education in Qatar. With these changes, students and families are set to have a more enjoyable and balanced school year.
