Avatar

H.E. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with H.E. Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Washington.

The topic of discussion during the conference was how to lessen escalation and maintain the truce, as well as the most recent events in the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip.

His Excellency emphasised during the meeting that the State of Qatar, along with its partners in mediation, is committed to continuing efforts to bring about calm and a permanent ceasefire. He also emphasised that the ongoing bombing of the Gaza Strip after the humanitarian pause ends complicated mediation efforts and worsens the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.

The need to open humanitarian corridors in a sustainable manner was also emphasised by H.E., the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in order to guarantee the inflow of aid to the Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip and to give relief convoys the required security until they reach the northern Strip.

His Excellency stated that the State of Qatar is adamantly opposed to any targeting of people and that it is unforgivable to kill innocent civilians—especially women and children—and to implement a doctrine of collective punishment under any circumstances.
