According to an editorial piece in Spain’s Mundiario paper, Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani “deserves” the Nobel Peace Prize for his vision and contribution to advancing world peace.
Ismail El Alaoui, a philologist and teacher, stated in the article that the Qatari leader had served as “a magnificent amir” and “a symbol of peace” throughout his reign.
Back in July, HH Sheikh Tamim was also named as the most influential Muslim by the Jordan-based “The Muslim 500”.
A widespread attack was made by Western media to delegitimize Qatar in the months leading up to and during the competition.
Despite the negative criticisms, the Gulf state managed to hold what has been hailed as “the best” World Cup in FIFA history despite several obstacles and concerns about its preparation to host the event.
