Shorter days and winter fasts

A real treat is coming this year! Since Ramadan 2026 lands in February and March, fasting hours are much more manageable than previous summer days. On the first day, the fast lasts about 12 hours and 40 minutes, starting with Fajr at 4:47 AM and breaking for Iftar at 5:30 PM. By the end of the month, the days stretch to 13 hours and 30 minutes. It is the perfect weather to enjoy Iftar outdoors with family and friends!

New school and government shifts

The Ministry of Education is supporting students and teachers with very friendly timings. Students will be in class for only 3.5 hours (9:00 AM to 12:30 PM), while staff wrap up by 1:00 PM. Government offices will operate on a 5-hour workday, usually from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The best part? There is a ton of flexibility! Starting as late as 10:00 AM is possible as long as the five hours are completed, and many staff members can even work from home.

Private sector and mall timings

For the private sector, the rules are clear: work should not exceed 6 hours a day or 36 hours a week. This keeps energy high for prayer and community time. When planning a shopping trip, remember that most malls switch to “split shifts.” They usually open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, close for Iftar, and then reopen for the late-night crowd from 7:00 PM until 1:00 AM. Just a quick tip: double-check with specific malls before heading out, as some might tweak hours as the month goes on!
