What You Need To Know About Qatar Total Open 2020

The anticipation is over; tennis fans can now enjoy the 18th Qatar Total Open 2020, which will be held at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex between 23 and 29 of February.

The world’s leading female players are in Doha, ready to rock the Stadium.

64 players, including 4 qualifiers will be featured in the singles event of the premier, while 32 teams will compete in the doubles.

It’s worth highlighting that, 8 top players and 4 former champions will participate.

World No. 1 seed, Ashleigh Barty and world No. 2 Karolina Pliskova are expected to make a bold appearance, while top tennis players like the 2014 Champion and World No. 4, Simona Halep, the 2019 Wimbledon semi-finalist and World No. 5 Elina Svitolina and World No. 6 and 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu, will be joining them on the court.

Ashleigh Barty, Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Belinda Bencic, Elina Svitolina, Sofia Kenin, Kiki Bertens and Petra Kvitova are most likely to claim the crown this year.

Elise Mertens won last year; it was an unexpected win over Simona Halep.

Interesting fact: A similar win came in 2015, when Lucie Safarova, also an unseeded player, won the finals.

Elise Mertens obtained her biggest career singles title last year in Doha.

100 tennis fans will receive a free ticket for the matches by presenting their Metro travel card at the ticket counter. The offer is valid for the first 100 fans and for the first 4 days (February 23-26).

The first tournament was held in 2001. After 2008, the tournament took a two- year break and returned in 2011.

Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex can host up to 7,000 viewers.
