Whether she’s documenting her “withdrawal symptoms” from Global Village or sharing the intimate details of her reversion to Islam, Emma has become a relatable, refreshing voice in the UAE’s digital landscape
One of the most profound chapters of Emma’s life recently has been her decision to revert to Islam.
While she had been curious about the faith back in the UK, even buying a Quran before the pandemic, moving to the UAE provided the immersion she needed to take the leap.
She view’s her faith as a continuous journey rather than an end goal. Interestingly, despite a breakup during her transition, her faith only grew stronger.
“The irony was that we broke up and my faith increased. I’ve been praying more and experimenting with covering my hair. It’s a lifestyle element; you shouldn’t expect to be 100% perfect right off the bat.”

After posting a “withdrawal” video about missing Global Village (and specifically a sparkly traditional Mukhawar dress she regretted not buying), the GV social media team did the unthinkable!

“A few days later, a literal chest arrived at my door. They had gone into the village, found the stall, got approval from the owner, and sent me the exact dress. Global Village team, get them a raise!”

Her business, Amara Bridal House, sees her assisting Khaleeji and Emirati brides on their big days. Emma describes herself as a “bridal absorber,” aka the person who takes on all the stress so the bride can remain chilled.
Her job has taken her behind the scenes of some of the region’s most lavish weddings, where she’s met everyone from royalty to pan-Arab superstar Nancy Ajram.

Whether she’s navigating her first full Ramadan, “buzzing like an old fridge” over a surprise delivery, or shimmying in the corner of a royal wedding, Emma’s positivity is infectious.
She remains a staunch advocate for life in the Emirates, even during global tensions or stormy weather.
