Low-Income Families And Bachelors Will Soon Have Access To Rent For As Little As AED 700

A new housing scheme in Abu Dhabi will give low-income bachelors and low-income families access to good quality and affordable accommodations. 

The Abu Dhabi Municipality announced the initiative on Saturday, where amount paid will vary depending on circumstance and will start at AED 700 per month, for low-income bachelors earning AED 2,000 per month.

What families pay is based on their monthly or annual income

Monthly earners of AED 2,000 – AED 4,000 will pay approx. AED 700 – AED 1,400 per month

Monthly earners of AED 4,000 – AED 6,000 will pay approx. AED 1,400 to AED2 ,100 per month

Annual earners of AED 48,000 – AED 72,000 will pay approx. AED 16,800 – AED 25,000

The amount paid should not exceed 35 % of the individual’s income

There are eligibility requirements for both the buildings and applicants

 The building must be situated on a main road, and ground floors should not be used

Landlords are not required to provide parking facilities in every circumstance

All units have a minimum square metre requirement, for example, a one bedroom flat can be no less than 40 square metres

Landlords may not rent accommodation to individuals directly

Each building shall be designated for either males or females
