HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayhan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi has ordered the renaming of a mosque in Abu Dhabi to promote bonds between religions.
The mosque in Abu Dhabi, previously named ‘Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Mosque’ in Al Mushrif is being renamed ‘Mariam Umm Eisa’ mosque, which translates from Arabic as ‘Mary Mother of Jesus’.
The renaming is aims to become an example of mutual tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the emirates.
According to national news agency WAM, Pastor of the Evangelical Arab community in Abu Dhabi, Rev. Yousuf Farajallah, said the gesture reflects the spirit of Christian and Muslim brotherhood, and the principles and values of interfaith coexistence in the UAE.
