Tragic news of a seven-year-old boy drowning, in the floods that hit after storms battered the UAE, has been reported in The National.

The boy who has been named as Abdullah Al Bedwawi, tragically died after he was trapped in his car, which was swept away in the Ghubrah Valley in Hatta on Wednesday.

Abdullah’s two brothers managed to escape, but were unable to save their younger brother from the submerged car. The pressure of the water submerging the vehicle overpowered them.

Abdullah was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A funeral was held after evening prayers at Hatta mosque, and the child was buried at the Wa’ab Al Aqer cemetery in Hatta.

Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.
