Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) has announced changes to the rules in Dubai for residents requiring an ambulance.
Access to ambulance services will no longer be free – health insurance companies will be required to cover the costs.
This means residents will be required to share their health insurance at the time of the service.
The insurer will be charged for the service – which is mandatory cover in the UAE.
Those without insurance will still be treated for life-threatening emergencies on humanitarian grounds, according to the DCAS.
Residents are recommended to have their health insurance cards with them at all times.
