It’s Now Compulsory For All Taxis To Have Two Car Seats Available For Kids At All Times

In a series of new driving laws and regulations that came into effect across the UAE on July 1, this one will be hugely beneficial for parents of small children.

Taxis in the UAE must now have a minimum of two car seats available for children at all times.

Seats can be kept in the trunk of the car until needed.

The focus right now is on educating drivers on the importance of road safety

Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, assistant commander-in-chief of the Dubai Police for Operational Affairs and director of the Federal Traffic Council stated we are in an awareness stage.

“Violators who do not provide children with seats in their vehicles will be stopped and advised about the safety of children.”

After the awareness stage, violators will be fined AED 400 per offence

People need to be aware of the risks involved in allowing children sit in the front seat.

“Reserving special seats for infants and toddlers is not common in Arab or Asian culture, but it is one that we need to adopt. The insistence of some mothers to hold their kids while sitting in the front seat is very risky. Mothers should accompany their child sitting on their car seats for maximum safety’.
