Diwali is the Hindu religious festival of lights that’s celebrated every Autumn.
The Hindu population in the UAE is between 6% and 10% so if you notice an extra surge of lights in the coming days, this is why!
Diwali is celebrated on November 7 (this can vary) and people observe the holiday by lighting diya, (lamps) hanging lights, home decorations, fireworks, sweets, family meals, gifts and more.
This is the first official diya lighting in the emirates – don’t miss it. There’ll also be fireworks from 8.30pm!
Al Seef is hosting ten days of celebrations including bhangra performances, a Guinness World Record attempt (for the most number of people lighting up LED lights) on November 10 AND an epic Dubai Police supercar show – how cool!
There’s also a special diwali market at Al Seef from November 1 to November 10 and fireworks November 8 from 8pm.

Today, @emirates is spreading Diwali happiness at City Walk & Bollywood Parks in Dubai. What a fab way to appeal & cater to Indians living in that country. It says a lot about the growing importance of India in the world travel market. #Diwali2018 pic.twitter.com/Vqj7MBZbMW
