Dubai will be the first city EVER to get its own font

So, Dubai is about to get its very own ‘Dubai font’ and we can only imagine how cool it’s going to look. We can thank Sheikh Hamden bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who directed the secretary-general to work on the package. The font, which will be available in both Arabic and English is currently being developed by Microsoft and as of yet we haven’t heard when it will be revealed but we like to think it will be some time in 2016.

The font is being designed in an effort to establish the UAE as one of the leading countries when it comes to innovation and excellence by 2021. This is all in support of the national strategy for innovation that was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, Abdulla Al Shaibani along with Nadella. This basically means that Microsoft will be providing all the technical support for the design of the font as well as the issuing of the ‘Dubai Font’.

We, seriously can’t wait to see what the ‘Dubai Font’ will look like!

“The Emirate of Dubai, as usual, and within its ongoing efforts to occupy the top rank internationally in various areas, will create a new and memorable imprint in the digital world through this initiative, which is in line with its clear strategy based on a solid foundation in a move designed to reflect the vision of our wise leadership to achieve leadership and innovation.”
