People Who Drive Eco-Friendly Cars Will Now Get FREE Parking In Dubai

Switching to an electric car is a BOSS move! 

Not only are you contributing towards a cleaner environment but you also get to save money. 

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it will give 70 free parking spaces in 40 paid parking zones across Dubai for environmentally-friendly vehicles. 

Locations of these spaces include Central Business Districts, Trade Centre area, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, JBR and Shaikh Zayed Road

These spots are easily identifiable with their designated green-painted frames that also show the duration you can use them for. 

This initiative is a part of Dubai’s Green Mobility plan which aims to reduce carbon emissions and encourage the use of green vehicles.

This mobility programme will assist RTA in replacing 50% Dubai’s taxi fleet with EVs by 2021. As of now, around 20% of the taxis are hybrid.

Only green cars are allowed to access these slots, and for a time limit of four hours. 

Eng. Maitha Bin Adai, Chief Executive Officer of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said, “Seventy free parking spaces are designated in 40 parking zones in different parts of Dubai.

The RTA is keen on spreading this initiative to high-density traffic areas and streets across Dubai with the aim of covering most paid parking zones in vital areas.”
