Emirates Has Banned The Samsung Note 7 From Flights As It’s A Serious Threat To Passenger Safety

This is not good news for Samsung Galaxy Note7 owners. 

The use of the phone, which originally retailed for over AED 2,000, has been banned aboard Emirates flights after a warning was issued by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). 

35 incidents have been reported of a battery flaw which lead to small-scale explosions. Samsung are offering new devices (more details below) and any current holders of the device are advised not to turn on or charge their device when on board any Emirates flights. Stowing the device in checked luggage is also prohibited also.

Over 2.5 million devices have already been recalled and Samsung Arabia have tweeted a help link to worried customers. 

The tweet is a direct link to the official Samsung website where Note 7 customers can get advice for how to obtain a new (free) device. 

“Samsung is taking a proactive approach to address customer needs around the Note7. We are encouraging customers to replace their Note7 by taking advantage of our Product Replacement Program. The safety and satisfaction of our customers is Samsung’s top priority.”
