It’s Official! Masks Are No Longer Mandatory On These 3 Airlines

FAB news for travellers! Masks are no longer mandatory on Etihad, Emirates and Fly Dubai Airlines.

Etihad announced that passengers can decide whether they want to wear masks on flights or not – with some exceptions

The airline announced that passengers on inbound flights to Abu Dhabi have the option between wearing masks or not. This announcement came in line with the latest COVID-19 updates announced on September 26.

However, passengers flighting out of Abu Dhabi to the following countries have to wear a mask on the flight:

  • China
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Maldives
  • Philippines
  • South Korea
  • Sechelles
  • And Canada – until Friday, September 30

Canada will lift the mask mandate on flights this Friday, September 30. While the other countries requirements still stand.

Additionally, Emirates and Fly Dubai both announced the lift of the mask mandate for passengers flying to Dubai

Both Emirates Airlines and Fly Dubai lifted their mask mandate for passengers flying to Dubai. However, passengers traveling from or transiting through Dubai must follow the mask rules of their final destination.

Masks may be optional but Abu Dhabi still requires a green status on the Al Hosn. Residents, citizens and tourists must present their pass on the application to enter public spaces in Abu Dhabi.
