If you’re looking for something adventurous to keep you busy over the long weekend, look no further.
Ras Al Khaimah’s Jebel Jais mountain has something for you – the Middle East’s first via ferrata. The climbing route (470m-long) has three start and finish points and three zip lines measuring 50m, 60m and 300m. Let’s just say it’s an opportunity to experience Jebel Jais’ views at around 400ft (the height of a 30-storey building). The first ones to try it out were RAK Tourism Development Authority’s Haitham Mattar and Emirati adventurers Huda Zowayed and Hamad Al Mazrouey.
The Ledge Walk which takes around four hours to complete.
The Middle Path which takes around 3.5 hours to complete.
And the Julphar Scare which takes around 1.5 hours to complete.
You’d have to prove yourself on the Ledge Walk before you’re allowed to take on the other courses that are a little more challenging.
There are two slots available: 9am to 1pm and 1pm to 5pm. Each climbing group consists of a maximum of 7 participants and two instructors to guide you through the experience.
