Avatar

The Federal National Council is currently awaiting sign-off on a bill that could drastically improve working conditions for domestic helpers.

The draft bill is awaiting sign off by President of the UAE, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nayhan, and would mean shorter working hours and improved conditions for employees of households.

Workers could be entitled to 30 days paid annual leave, be required to retain their own legal documents (including passports) and a 12-hour rest each day as well as a guaranteed day off each week.
