The south Indian state of Kerala faced the worst flood in a century around the same time last year in 2018. In August 2018 Kerala had witnessed mass destruction as the floods killed 483 citizens and led to a number of people getting lost.
The monsoon season has hit Kerala once again and the rains are overpowering the state just like it did last year, leading to dangerous landslides and fatalities. This has led to the UAE Consulate in Kerala to publish an advisatory warning against travelling to Kerala at this time of the year.
Flights to Kerala are being cancelled and diverted because of the heavy downpour and because Friday morning it was announced that the Kochi International Airport will remain closed till Sunday when the rains are expected to get better.
