The construction of a new tunnel, that’s going to make your life a whole lot easier, on Sheikh Rashid Street is finally over and it will open on Thursday, May 3, according to the RTA.
It’s located at the intersection of Sheikh Rashid and Sheikh Khalifa street and is actually a 4-lane tunnel in each direction (so eight lanes in total).
This new development will easily accommodate the ever-increasing traffic of Dubai, especially traffic coming from Al Garhoud bridge, SZR, Bur Dubai and Oud Metha.
Starting May 3, If you are going from Al Garhoud Bridge to Al Shindagha tunnel or Port Rashid and vice versa, you can use the new 4-lanes broad tunnel on Sheikh Rashid road, which will help in reducing the traffic in the area.#DubaiProjects#DubaiRoads pic.twitter.com/R8geamdfUX

“The project is part of RTA’s master plan for the improvement of roads, bridges, crossing and underpasses to accommodate the growing traffic volumes, and ease the traffic movement in all parts of Dubai. It is also part of the overall efforts to implement RTA’s strategic plan for upgrading roads and transport infrastructure in Dubai.
The objective is to develop integrated solutions of roads and marine network that are safe for users, and capable of matching the development plans and demographic growth and encouraging the development and investment in Dubai,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
