Saudi Arabia has announced the world’s richest horse race.
PippingĀ Pegasus World Cup to the post, (the US race offered an AED58.7 million prize fund for one race in 2018) the new race in Riyadh has a prize fund set at AED73.4 million, ($20 million) making it the world’s most expensive horse race.
AED36.7 million will go the winner alone…. not bad for a quick track!
Dubai, however, still holds the title for the world’s richest race meeting. The annual race held at Meydan draws equestrian enthusiasts from all over and offers AED128.5 million in total.

According to reports, theĀ Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia will pay for stables, fodder, veterinary fees, and farrier, as well as arrange and pay for flights and accommodation of connections, a huge incentive for potential runners.
And purse money will be paid to 10th place in the free-to-enter race.
