The UAE Embassy in Thailand has issued a warning to Emiratis in Phuket after local authorities announced a storm alert.
“The UAE Embassy in Bangkok warned its citizens in Phuket to avoid the sea from August 9 to 15, and to follow instructions from Thai authorities,” said the embassy.
Social media users have also been putting out warnings and advice to holidaygoers
It should be noted that the tourist boat Phoenix that sank last month in bad weather killing 47 passengers WASN’T a small boat and wouldn’t have been affected by this ban on boats leaving port in Phuket. If it’s stormy weather, my advice is NOT to go on a boat trip #Thailand pic.twitter.com/TejjQ5XkNZ

Grey and windy morning. Don’t swim at the beach. Boat trips cancelled this morning due to big waves. #Phuket #weather
