Rumours have been swirling for months, with reports suggesting Russian Khabib Nurmagomedo was going to fight in Abu Dhabi, but as of this morning, the information is signed, sealed and delivered…
The UFC is coming to Abu Dhabi!
For one-night-only, on September 7, the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the world famous octagon will come to the UAE.
Abu Dhabi will host UFC 242, and although the fighters names have yet to be revealed this is still BIG news for fans and the capital which has hosted the event twice before.
“It’s official! We’re bringing #UFC242 to @VisitAbuDhabi!”
UFC is an American company that’s expanded to Australia, the Middle East, Asia and Europe. The fights are televised and annually the company brings in hundreds of millions of US dollars in revenue.
One of last year’s biggest fights saw Irishman Conor McGregor take on Russian Khabib Nurmagomedo. Khabib has a huge amount of support in the region (he even visited the UAE directly after the McGregor fight) and although the fighters are TBC, here’s hoping the rumours that Abu Dhabi are on the cards for Khabib are true.
UFC told me they are working on this. I just came back from Dubai. And very soon news is coming. Very soon.
