Adding yet another superlative to all the infrastructure marvels in Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, broke grounds and launched the world’s biggest solar power (CSP) plant.

Located near Al Qudra, this 700MW project represents the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

A delighted HH Sheikh Mohammed took to Twitter to make the announcement

The ultimate goal of Dubai is to be the most environmental friendly city by 2050 and this project is a huge leap forward in UAE’s efforts in producing clean and renewable energy.

The cost of producing solar power is also the lowest in the world today.

By 2050, 75% of Dubai’s energy needs will be met by clean sources

The project is worth AED14 billion and will provide clean energy to 27,000 homes.

In fact, Expo 2020 will also be the world’s first expo to be completely powered by clean energy.
