The world’s largest man-made safari park will open its doors in Al Ain this Wednesday, where you’ll be able to get up close to more than 250 animals. The Al Ain Safari at Al Ain Zoo is ready to receive visitors and covers over 217 hectares, think: the size of 300 football pitches!
The safari will be home to Arabian and African animals, such as the scimitar oryx, springbok, eland, blesbok, giraffe, zebra and lion, and to 38 native and African plants. And the 2,500 plants and trees moved during construction have also been replanted.
The park is to add crocodiles and hippos at a later date, they’ll be housed in an enclosure with viewing available both above and under the water. There’s also plans to add a hotel in the future.
Al Ain Zoo director general Ghanim Al Hajeri said: “The experience will be unique, being driven entirely by Emirati tour guides. This will emphasise local traditions and warm hospitality, drawing on an unrivalled passion for the UAE’s proud heritage.”
Prices:
The safari experience costs AED 200 for a seat on a vehicle that allows great views of the animals.
Nissan Patrol 4x4s, seating six passengers, can be rented for private trips at a cost of AED 1,000 per vehicle.
A full circuit of the safari area will take between 45 minutes and an hour.
