Valentine’s Day is looming and while some are dreaming of a diamond ring, the gold ring to eclipse all others has just landed in Dubai
It doesn’t even look like a ring!
The huge gold ring (and yup folks, it IS the real deal) is in fact the world’s largest gold ring and it’s on display right now in the Sahara Centre, on the Dubai Sharjah highway.
The mammoth piece of jewelry is worth a whopping AED11 MILLION and has been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records and endorsed by the World Gold Council as the world’s largest gold ring.
It’s made up of 21-carats and 64 kilograms and is studded with 5.1 kilograms (11 pounds) of precious stones and diamonds, as well as 615 Swarovski crystals. It took 55 jewel smiths 10 hours a day, 45 days to craft the ring.
The ring cost $547,000 when it was purchased in 2000, since then the price of gold has skyrocketed and the ring is now valued at $3 million.
Sahara Centre is open from 10am to 11pm on weekdays, 10am until 12 midnight on Thursdays and Saturdays, and 10am to 12pm and 1pm until 12 midnight on Fridays.
