This year has been an incredible one in terms of holidays for BOTH the private and the public sector, thanks to the government’s 2019 initiative to ensure that both areas are equal in terms of holiday leave.
If you’re an OG Dubai resident and employee, then you’ll know the excitement or struggles that come with waiting for that official announcement- so you can pack up and book a staycayy for your long weekend.
Such is this week’s dilemma for many employees in the private sector, since The Federal Authority for Human Resources announcement on Hijri New Year for Muharram 1 has already been given to both sectors- but whether it takes place on Sunday, depends solely on the moon sighting.

The confusion remains.
Anyone know when we’ll find out if Sunday is a holiday? 🤔

…but that depends on the moon sighting.
It was announced last week. It is Sunday.

I’d like to know for sure too as it affects the first day of school. 🤷🏾♀️

Not yet confirmed as depends upon the moon sighting later this week. Only confirmation so far is it will be a holiday on either Saturday or Sunday.

Don’t worry, Lovin Dubai won’t leave you hanging and will confirm if the Sunday holiday applies for the private sector too, as soon as word gets in.
I want to know too 🤔
